The Supreme Court of South Korea has decided to send for review the criminal case against Vice President and Actual Head of Samsung Electronics Lee Zhe Yong, reported Renhap agency.

The final verdict of the Supreme Court states that a lower court should review the decision it made in February 2018.

This is a ruling of the High Court of Seoul. The court judge dismissed several serious allegations of corruption and reduced the prison term to 2.5 years. In fact, his sentence was halved.

After spending almost a year in prison, Lee Jae-yong was released.

The case of the vice president of the corporation is connected with the corruption scandal surrounding the former president of South Korea, Park Geun-hye. Initially, the court issued a harsher sentence against the top manager. He was convicted of bribery, embezzlement and false testimony, and sentenced to five years in prison.

The prosecutor asked the court for 12 years in prison for the head of Samsung. Lee Jae Yong denied the charges against him. In South Korea, they called this court the “court of the century” because it affected the president and the largest corporation in the country.

In this regard, the head of state was dismissed.
