{"id":2169,"date":"2017-07-17T16:36:02","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T13:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anticorr.media\/?p=2169"},"modified":"2017-07-19T23:34:08","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T20:34:08","slug":"kak-razdayut-zemli-na-britanskix-ostrovax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anticorr.media\/en\/kak-razdayut-zemli-na-britanskix-ostrovax\/","title":{"rendered":"Registrar of Lands under investigation for corruption"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>This material belongs to: <a href=\"http:\/\/tcweeklynews.com\/registrar-of-lands-under-investigation-for-corruption-p8039-127.htm\">Turks and Caicos Weekly News<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.integritycommission.tc\/node\/179\">THE INTEGRITY Commission<\/a> is currently engaged in an investigation regarding alleged acts of corruption committed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/land-registry\">Registrar of Lands<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.tc\/landregistry\/about-us\/land-registry-staff\/registrar-of-lands\">Brandie Anderson, <\/a>this publication has learned.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Contacted on Thursday (July 13), for confirmation on the investigation, Director of the Commission, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.integritycommission.tc\/node\/179\">Eugene Otuonye QC<\/a>, stated: &#8220;I have no comment on that, but we will issue a press release on that very soon.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>However, despite Otuonye\u2019s reticence to comment, reliable sources have informed the Weekly News that the officer is being questioned by the commission for acts of corruption which involve the falsification of land documents over the period of one year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The documents were allegedly for persons who are deceased, non-TCI residents, and others who are not the owners of property in the Islands.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The questions allegedly being asked also involve private and <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.tc\/lands\/9-core-business-function\/2-crown-land-unit\">Crown land parcels<\/a>, subdivision and transfer of land belonging to dead people, illegal transfer of property on which bank mortgage charges have been placed, receiving bribes from high profile lawyers in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turks_and_Caicos_Islands\">TCI<\/a>, and other alleged acts of corruption.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Sources revealed that the commission has filed documents in the court to solicit the assistance of the Registrar of Lands to answer these questions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The officer is also allegedly being implicated in activity related to the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/tci-sit.org\/\">Special Investigation and Prosecution Trial <\/a>(SIPT).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Several other allegations are being investigated in relation to the officer\u2019s duties at the Land Registry.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>These involve documents that were removed and funds that were improperly used for departmental upgrade and personal use.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This material belongs to: Turks and Caicos Weekly News.
