The prosecutor\u2019s office does not find his business with tax fraud suspect suspicious.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The police will not investigate the business of Interior Minister Robert Kali\u0148\u00e1k<\/a> and former transport minister J\u00e1n Po\u010diatek<\/a> with tax fraud suspect Ladislav Ba\u0161tern\u00e1k<\/a> as corruption.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no proof to launch an investigation, Deputy Prosecutor General Peter \u0160ufliarsky<\/a> told the Denn\u00edk N daily<\/a> after reading the investigation file.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot look at the matter from the political and journalistic point but from the expert one,\u201d \u0160ufliarsky told the daily, adding that it is not the task of the General Prosecutor\u2019s Office<\/a> to provide the moral evaluation of its business.<\/p>\n

Dubious transaction<\/h3>\n

The case concerns the transfer of shares of the B. A. Haus<\/a> company, which was established in 2008. It was founded by Po\u010diatek, Ba\u0161tern\u00e1k and Marek Tur\u010dan<\/a>, a lawyer known for doing business with Kali\u0148\u00e1k. Over three years, Ba\u0161tern\u00e1k put a total of \u20ac850,000 registered as loans into the company. Po\u010diatek also lent \u20ac315,000 to the firm.<\/p>\n

Ba\u0161tern\u00e1k decided to sell his 34-percent stock in the company in October 2013. He sold 17 percent to Kali\u0148\u00e1k and another 17 percent to Po\u010diatek. They paid some \u20ac8,000.<\/p>\n

However, the real estate broker estimated the value of the shares at \u20ac600,000 to \u20ac1 million. Since Po\u010diatek already owned some shares, he became the majority shareholder in B. A. Haus. The rest of the shares are now owned by Kali\u0148\u00e1k and Tur\u010dan, Denn\u00edk N wrote.<\/p>\n

Ba\u0161tern\u00e1k also sold his loan in the company to Kali\u0148\u00e1k and Po\u010diatek, dividing it in half. Kali\u0148\u00e1k even took a loan from Tatra Banka<\/a> to purchase the loan. This transaction was later noticed by Filip Rybani\u010d<\/a>, MP assistant of Jozef Rajt\u00e1r<\/a> from Freedom and Solidarity<\/a> (SaS), who is currently facing prosecution for divulging bank secrets.<\/p>\n

No actions from the prosecutor\u2019s office<\/h3>\n

Although the transaction resembles a business more than a gift, the prosecutor’s office will not begin an investigation. There is no proof that Kali\u0148\u00e1k or Po\u010diatek would do something for the businessman in return, according to Denn\u00edk N.<\/p>\n

The General Prosecutor\u2019s Office closed the case without ordering an expert opinion to assess the value of the stock purchased by Kali\u0148\u00e1k. The interior minister claims that he paid the real price, which is improbable considering the value of the real estate.<\/p>\n

\u0160ufliarsky says that the expert opinion would be more than required by its respective law, Denn\u00edk N wrote.<\/p>\n

Ba\u0161tern\u00e1k, meanwhile, faces accusations of tax fraud after receiving excessive VAT refunds from the state for the purchase of flats, for which he allegedly paid \u20ac12 million in cash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
