Chinese authorities have arrested former director of the National Religious Affairs Administration Cui Maohu. The ex-official is suspected of taking a bribe.<\/p>\n

According to the Xinhua news agency, China’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate decided to arrest the ex-official a few days ago.<\/p>\n

Cui Maohu, who also served as deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, was expelled from the party last week on suspicion of bribery. The ex-official came under investigation back in March of this year, when he was dismissed from his posts.<\/p>\n

Chinese Communist Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection pointed out that Cui Maohu may have illegally obtained arable land, and also used his official position to obtain sexual favors and money. In addition, the ex-official is suspected of nepotism, influence on the distribution of construction contracts and interference in the judicial system.<\/p>\n

The investigation continues.<\/p>\n
