Anti-corruption watchdog <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Accountability_Bureau\">National Accountability Bureau<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nab.gov.pk\/\">NAB<\/a>) on 8 September 8 filed a case against Dar for possessing\u00a0assets beyond his known sources of income following the 28 July verdict of the Supreme Court.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\">The apex court disqualified <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nawaz_Sharif\">Nawaz Sharif<\/a> as the prime\u00a0minister and ordered corruption cases against him, his\u00a0children <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maryam_Nawaz\">Maryam<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hussain_Nawaz\">Husain<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hassan_Nawaz\">Hasan<\/a> and son-in-law <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muhammad_Safdar\">Muhammad\u00a0Safdar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\">Chaos prevailed outside the accountability court when Dar\u00a0arrived for the hearing.The doors to the court were shut for\u00a0reporters, and the finance minister had to wait at least 20 minutes before he was allowed to enter the court premises from\u00a0the back door.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\">The minister refused to accept the charges read out by\u00a0accountability court judge <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/defencepk\/status\/910364584598474752\">Muhammad Bashir<\/a> and said his assets\u00a0were in accordance with income and he will prove it with\u00a0evidence during the trial.The court ordered the NAB to present evidence and the NAB\u00a0prosecutor submitted a list of 28 witnesses whom it would\u00a0present in the court to testify in support of the charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\">Dar also asked the court to allow him to skip personal\u00a0appearance during the trial and the court said it will decide later. The court has already decided to conduct day-to-day\u00a0hearing in the case. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muhammad_Arif_Chaudhry\">Arif Chaudhry<\/a>, President, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Supreme_Court_Bar_Association_of_Pakistan\">Islamabad High Court Bar\u00a0Association<\/a>, said that evidence of prosecution will be\u00a0important as the court would decide the case on the basis of\u00a0it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\">\u201cThe evidence will be judged and defence lawyers will be\u00a0given an opportunity to present counter evidence to reject the\u00a0charges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rana_Sanaullah_Khan\">Rana Sanalullah<\/a>, law minister of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Punjab,_Pakistan\">Punjab Province<\/a> and a\u00a0vocal member of ruling <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pakistan_Muslim_League_(N)\">Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/pmln.org\/\">PML-N<\/a>)\u00a0rejected the charges against Dar.\u00a0\u201cThe charges and indictment of Dar is a joke,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\">Dar has a long association with Sharif family. Dar&#8217;s son\u00a0has been married to Sharif&#8217;s daughter <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sharif_family\">Asma Nawaz<\/a>. He was also imprisoned when the Sharif government was\u00a0toppled in 1999.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-full-content\">He was under pressure by the Opposition to\u00a0resign after the NAB filed case against him but so far he has\u00a0refused to do so. The NAB has filed three cases of corruption and money\u00a0laundering against Sharif, his sons \u2014 Hassan and Hussain,\u00a0daughter \u00a0Maryam, son-in-law Safdar, and Finance Minister Dar in the Accountability Court in Islamabad and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rawalpindi\">Rawalpindi<\/a>\u00a0recently.
