The maximum penalty for this aggravated offence will be seven years imprisonment,&#8221; Ms Fyles said.<\/p>\n<p>She says the amendments will help deter corruption and increase government accountability, empowering the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Independent_Commission_Against_Corruption_(New_South_Wales)\">ICAC<\/a> to apply for warrants and use surveillance devices.<\/p>\n<p>The bill is expected to be referred to the legislative assembly&#8217;s social policy scrutiny committee, which will likely report back in February.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This material belongs to: news.com.au.
