The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice<\/a> (CHRAJ<\/a>) is launching the celebration of 2017 Anti-corruption week and National Anti-Corruption<\/a> (NACAP<\/a>) conference in Accra<\/a> today, Monday, December 4, 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The celebration, which ends on December 9, 2017, aims at raising awareness on corruption and serves as an opportunity to review measures instituted to curb the menace in the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Week-long event being organised by CHRAJ is in partnership with the Office of the President, Attorney General\u2019s Office, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition<\/a>, made up of EOCO<\/a>, IEA<\/a>, GII<\/a>, PEF<\/a>, CDD<\/a>, GJA<\/a>, GCRP<\/a>, Judicial Service, NCCE<\/a>, Ghana Police, NAPRM<\/a>, Penplusbytes<\/a>, IMANI<\/a>, EU\/ARAP, US Embassy\/USAID, STAR Ghana<\/a>, STAAC<\/a> and other Stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Activities for this year\u2019s celebration will include a discussion of the 2016 NACAP Implementation Report, and awareness creation of the NACAP and resource mobilization for its implementation.<\/p>\n

Parliament on 3rd July 2014, adopted the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACAP) as the national strategy and blueprint to combat corruption in the country over a 10-year period with the aim of mobilising efforts and resources of stakeholders, including government, public sector institutions, civil society, the private sector, the media, faith-based organizations, traditional authorities, and individuals, to prevent and fight corruption through the promotion of high ethics and integrity and the vigorous enforcement of applicable laws.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo<\/a> has fiercely expressed his desire to kick out corruption and has boldly indicated that such acts will not be tolerated by his government, most of whom heavily criticized the previous John Mahama<\/a> government of presiding over unprecedented acts of corruption and depriving the country of the much-needed development.<\/p>\n

Akufo-Addo, to reiterate his desire to fighting corruption has given security agencies a directive to investigate any official within his administration who will be accused of corruption.<\/p>\n

9th December of every year is celebrated as the International Anti-Corruption Day<\/a>. As this year\u2019s programme coincides with the Ghana@60 celebrations, the multi-stakeholder planning committee has branded the week December 4 \u2013 9, 2017, as Anti-Corruption & Transparency Week [ACT 6\/0], symbolizing six days of zero tolerance for corruption.<\/p>\n
