Zhang Jian, former president of the Higher People’s Court of east China’s Anhui Province, appeared in court at the Intermediate People’s Court of Xiamen in east China’s Fujian Province on charges of taking bribes. China.org.cn information portal reports.
Zhang was accused of abusing the various positions he previously held and misusing his status to seek benefits for others in project contracting, handling of certain cases and personnel transfer from 1995 to 2019.
According to the indictment, Zhang accepted nearly $ 11 million in money and goods in return.
During the trial, prosecutors presented complete evidence.
In his latest statement, Zhang pleaded guilty and expressed remorse.
