Valery Markelov, a member of the Board of Directors of JSC “Roszheldorproekt”, which is called the “king of the state order”, was detained in Sochi for mediation in the transfer of bribes of 2 billion rubles to interior Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko, reports “Rosbalt” citing a source in the security services.
The Basmanny court decided to arrest Valery Markelov for two months, until December 1, 2018, as part of the investigation of interior Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko.
In addition to Markelov, one of the defendants is a lawyer Viktor Belevtsov, who was a confidant of Zakharchenko. According to unofficial data, the lawyer helped the ex-Finance Director of Nota-Bank Galina Marchukova to hide the documents before the search in her apartment in the case of theft in JSC “Elektrozavod”.
The investigation believes that Zakharchenko was able to warn Marchukova about the upcoming search. Markelov is charged with the transfer of bribes (article 291 of the criminal code), Belevtsov — mediation in bribery (article 291.1 of the criminal code).
According to “Rosbalt”, which refers to a source in the security services, Markelov suspected of mediation in the transfer of bribes in 2 billion rubles Zakharchenko. The bribe was from”one of the highest leaders of Railways of those times”.
At the beginning of the year, Forbes published a rating of “kings of the state order”, in which Markelov and his business partners got the first place. Charges against Zakharchenko

According to investigators, the ex-Colonel has received 7 million roubles from Anatoly Prigornitskaya, previously led the company “Rosinzhiniring” and 800 thousand dollars from Copper Dossa. Zakharchenko is charged with other episodes of bribery and abuse of power.
On December 1, 2017, the capital Nikulinsky court satisfied the claim of the General Prosecutor’s office, having decided to confiscate assets of Zakharchenko and his family worth 9 billion rubles in favor of the state.
