US doubts advisability of aid to Ukraine

The leadership of the US Department of Defense has created a special team that will monitor Ukraine’s use of military assistance provided by the United States.

CNN reports.

The move came after Republicans called for greater control over how Kyiv spends the money it receives.

Now the United States has sent another official representative to Ukraine. Additional people will arrive there soon. The group will be based at the US Embassy in Kyiv.

According to the TV channel, the United States has now provided $43.7 billion in assistance. Moreover, the White House recently requested another 24 billion from Congress.

Republicans doubt the advisability of allocating such funds, since corruption is rampant in Ukraine. They fear fraud and abuse.
