China launches anti-corruption campaign in healthcare

The Chinese authorities have launched a program to combat corruption in healthcare.

According to the State Committee for Health Affairs, the new campaign will be carried out jointly with the committee and nine other departments. The fight against corruption will be conducted in all spheres of medicine. The authorities will pay attention to governing bodies, industry scientific communities and associations, medical enterprises and health insurance funds.

The committee also wants to check key officials in the sector. Departments and hospitals where violations of the law were recorded will be especially closely monitored. During the campaign, the authorities want to eradicate extortion, kickbacks and bribery.

Officials also intend to create an atmosphere of decency, discipline, disinterestedness and solidarity in the field of medicine.
