Barcelona found guilty of paying bribes to former vice-president of referees committee

FC Barcelona found guilty in a criminal case of bribery of Henriques Negreira, former vice-president of the Referee Technical Committee (CTA) of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

El Debate reports.

Law enforcement authorities found that FC Barcelona transferred approximately 7.5 million euros to Henriques Negreira. This action was qualified as a bribe to promote the interests of the team. In addition to the referee and Barcelona, Negreira’s son is also accused in this case. Other charges have been brought against former Barcelona presidents Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell.

In addition, the Spanish Civil Guard came to search the headquarters of the technical committee of RFEF judges. Law enforcement officials believe that Negreira provided Barcelona with reports on the referees.
