Former US State Department official convicted of embezzling funds from Department of Defense

Former US State Department employee Roudy Pierre-Louis was sentenced to prison on fraud charges.

From 2015 to August 2018, Pierre-Louis, as a State Department employee, worked at the Embassy of Haiti as the sole budget analyst for the Security Coordination Office (SCO). In this role, Pierre-Louis was responsible for the financial and accounting work of the SCO with the Department of State and Department of Defense, including overseeing the distribution of cash advances, travel expenses and accommodation for participants in events held by the US Southern Command.

According to the investigation, during his time at the embassy, Pierre-Louis submitted forged documents to the State Department to receive cash payments in the names of Haitian Nationals that contained forged signatures of approving Department of Defense supervisors.

As a result, Pierre-Louis embezzled more than $ 150,000.
