Another mayor in Ukraine accused of corruption and removed from office

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine decided to remove Alexander Lysenko from the post of mayor of the city of Sumy.

Lysenko has been suspended from his post until December 9.

In early October, employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine reported suspicions to the mayor of Sumy and the director of the city’s infrastructure department, Alexander Zhurba.

Investigators suspect them of receiving unlawful benefits worth $58,000.
