Nazarbayev’s nephew arrested in Kazakhstan

A court in Kazakhstan has arrested businessman Kairat Satybaldy. He will be in custody for two months.

Satybaldy had been detained on Sunday on suspicion of abuse of office and embezzlement of JSC Kazakhtelecom’s funds.

Law enforcement agencies conducted searches in Kazakhtelecom.

The man was detained at Almaty airport when he was trying to fly to Dubai.

Satybaldy is one of the most influential businessmen in the country. He is the nephew of the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
